Yeast & Cloth Diapers

Yeast is definitely not a fun thing to deal with when it comes to cloth diapers. My daughter currently has yeast and after only one application of the medicated cream from the doctor her blistered butt was a million times better. Unfortunately I can't say the same about my diapers.

Yeast can continue to grow in cloth diapers which is why you should do a full strip of them....this doesn't mean using RLR or Original Blue Dawn. It means vinegar and Tea Tree Oil (TTO). Many claim the Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE) works as well!

This is what I have done:
1) grabbed every diaper, wipe, anything that touched her bum
2) throw everything in the washer with 1/2 cup Vinegar and approx. 20 drops of TTO.
3) Soak for about 30 mins.
4) Rinse & Rinse
5) I took the opportunity to also RLR my diapers since I already had them all pulled. I threw the RLR in the washer on top of the diapers. Turned the washer on my full regular wash with my CD Detergent.
6) Rinse & Rinse & Rinse

Now I have so many diapers and wipes, etc that I couldn't remember which diapers my daughter had used so I put everything in and treated it all in 2 separate loads.

On many websites it will tell you to use bleach to treat yeast. I don't like the idea of bleach personally because in a lot of cases it will void the warranty of your diapers, in others the manufacturers will recommend it. Bleach is very controversial when it comes to cloth diapers so I generally try to avoid it.

La Bum-Bah Fleece Soakers

La Bum-Bah is located on facebook and the sole owner is Shannon. Shannon is an excellent person to deal with, she has been great with every single order I have made. I heard about Shannon from a friend of mine and quickly looked her up so I could order some of those adorable fleece covers for over my daughters fitteds at night. So far I only use fitteds and fleece covers at night but I am planning on ordering some of La Bum-Bah trainers as well.

One thing I do have to say is that her fleece soakers tend to fit on the small side. For example, my 23 lbs daughter fits in a Large but tends to fit better in an XL since her bamboo fitteds are on the thicker side. On the plus side if you give her some measurements she can definitely make sure the soaker will fit to your child.

La Bum-Bah soakers are very affordable at only $8 each + $2 shipping you can get many different sizes and patterns.

You see....we can't use wool in my house so I had to go with fleece covers. Honestly I LOVE them, there is no lanolizing and they are still just as absorbent as the wool covers (in my opinion). I definitely suggest checking out La Bum-Bah on facebook and order a fleece soaker from Shannon....they are so cute, soft and adorable!

Make sure to check out Shannon from La Bum-Bah here:

Kemby Sidekick Review & Cushytushy Bum Apparel

I recently received my Kemby Sidekick diaper bag and I have to say that it is GORGEOUS!!! It's not as big as my LUG Tuk Tuk diaper bag but it can easily hold 3 cloth diapers, wipes, bum cream, extra pants, etc. It can also be used as a seat for your toddler while carrying them. I will be including an excellent video on how to use the bag from youtube.

The bag I have doesn't have the extra zipper at the bottom like the bag in the video. It has some very cool features including 2 side pockets for milk & juice and the toddler seat that folds into the diaper bag itself and doesn't take away from any of the storage.

You will see all of the interesting and awesome functions in the youtube video.

I would like to say that I won this diaper bag in an auction from Megan at www.cushytushy.ca. I met Megan on facebook and she has become one of my favorite retailers to purchase from, unfortunately she is closing shop to continue onto other ventures so definitely check her out for her amazing deals right now and her FREE SHIPPING! Megan is great at communicating with her customers and has excellent products!

Little Fancy Pants

Little Fancy Pants Review

To start I must give you an idea of what my daughter is like for fit and wetness. Reese is a very heavywetter at night and during the day. I have used many different diapers to try to avoid leaks but sometimes within 20mins she has completely soaked a diaper! She is fairly tall and skinny so some diapers have been hard to fit properly on her. The reason I like fitteds so much now is because they tend to be more absorbent and I don’t have to have them fitted perfectly around her tummy and thighs, I just have to find a cover or fleece soaker that will do that for me!

When I first opened my package from Rhonda at SweetLilDimples.ca the first diaper I went for was the Little Fancy Pants (LFP) fitted. It is so unbelievably soft and fits great on my daughter. I’ve only recently jumped into fitteds but have found that bamboo is great for night time absorbency. However the zorb in the LFP is absorbent enough that I don’t need an additional booster during the day.

LFP is soft on the inside and out. There is a booster that snaps into the diaper to keep it in place. The booster is also very soft. The only problem I have currently had with this diaper is that after washing and drying the booster edges curled. I contacted Rhonda and mentioned that this was my only complaint about LFP. She assured me this was not a usual occurrence and I will now be having a new booster shipped out to me.

I have found with my other fitteds that they are stiff and “crunchy”. After using the LFP for approximately 2 weeks now I can honestly say that this has not happened, it is as soft and luxurious as the first day I got it. I will definitely be purchasing more Little Fancy Pants fitteds in the future as they are now my favorite daytime fitted!

My recommendation: Give Little Fancy Pants a try! They are definitely worth the money in my books!

I will definitely post a picture to this post later!

What to try....what to try....

I sit here at work thinking to myself what diaper should I try next??? I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for me!! I am now using fitteds with fleece soakers at night. I would love to try something other than a pocket and something with a really neat design!!! Give me some wonderful tips ladies!!!

PS If anyone has suggestions for supper I'll take those too!
